@CharChar827 It's sad too. I always loved those kind. The 4 star restaurant in my old town has a black lady (respectfully) chef. She's been with the restuarant through various owners. My son washed dishes there as his first job. She treated him like her own but she doesn't put up with anyone's crap.

@pdpgb Lots of other jobs get tipped. Door man, the guy that carries your luggage, hair dressers, the kid that bags and carries your groceries, etc. The SERVICE industry. I'm not surprised you don't know that because you're a cheapskate. You pay tips, preferably cash, because they're lower paid jobs and they can skirt declaring cash on taxes. Even in restaurants that pay minimum or above, you tip. It's to say thanks for the excellent SERVICE. The better the service/nicer they are, the bigger the tip. Edit: I hope your spit in food and/or drinks are delicious because it gets around pretty quickly who doesn't tip. No tip guarantees subpar service.
