If you want to understand if it's bad I suggest Reikita's video on it (a lawyer) or Shadveristy on the Knightwatch 3 hour video breaking it down. It's a horrible offer. It's music business predatory kind of bad. I will say, given that Jeremy has experience in LA and Hollywood, it probably is a standard type of contract there. That's not a good thing. If you want to set yourself apart from a business you claim is bad and you're fighting against, using their practices to do so isn't a good look.

They shouldn't give you a contract like you know nothing about them. Edit because it changed nothing to North for some reason.

@AbcDino843 He did. Jeremy said he did. I don't know why I keep seeing this claim. Saying that's not good, scrape it and comeback with something else, is negotiating. Most likely DW saw he didn't sign the NDA attached to the offer (and it was an offer. It had signature areas for it to be signed as a complete deal) and expected a problem. Jeremy speaking about the phone call and going into specifics by saying things like Crowder attacked him in it and Jeremy was floundering because of it, says he knew it was going to come out. The thing a lot are missing is DW are all about business. That means EVERYTHING they put out as a company is done with calculating business minded. The nitty gritty is if someone signed a contract like that without negotiating, would Jeremy laugh all the way to the bank, or would he say he can't let them sign it because it's not fair to them? Neither answer gives a good light here. If the answer is yes, he puts money over morals. If the answer is no, he knows it's bad and he should never offer it to start with. That's the bottom line. Edit: In Jeremy's video he says they called Crowder after 3 months and said they can't reach a deal. That's the final offer take it or leave. They cut off any potential negotiations, not Crowder by Jeremy's own words.

@DarthQueefious No you don't. People that have fielded these offers say that is not a normal contract in the conservative space. Lawyers have said you don't come in lowballing like that on a contract if you're serious because it risks pissing the other party off and ending any chance right off the bat. It was a form letter type offer where the names and amounts are filled in and it's sent out. The merch part of the contract does not stipulate that it ends with the contract. That means they own his name and brand for merchandising purposes forever. Which also means they can claim the money from anything he sells using that name or brand in the future. If a contract doesn't stipulate when something ends, it doesn't. Ever. Musicians learned this the hard way. This isn't new and it's been called out in other industries. Now it getting called out in this one.
