You don’t know she bought it or paid that much for it. When a dog becomes trendy it gets over bred which means lots end up in shelters. That amount is going to be for a pure breed with papers. Pits can go for a lot, but I see them in the shelter everyday because they don’t have papers. Just because someone else bred the dog doesn’t mean every single person that has one that looks like it bought it or that it’s even pure. You’re making a lot of assumptions about this person and dog you don’t know. I’m a perfect example. All 3 dogs I currently have are pure breeds. I didn’t buy any of them. They were all rescued. 1 was given to us by a shelter because she was never going to find a home due to being a former bait dog, 1 we found at the dump, and 1 was abandoned at a house. Edit: The former bait dog was very timid. She was afraid of toys. It took a year to get her to stop being afraid of people except us. It took 3 years to get her to play with toys. It took 4 years, including 1&1/2 of being around the other 2, to learn to act like a dog and play with other dogs. She’s 10 now.

@Montross4440 You think it’s a modern thing? Natives valued their dogs. They were their hunting partners and performed valuable services. They’ve served mankind for thousands of years. Throughout civilization you’ll find animals buried with ceremonial reverence. Especially dogs. It requires a bond between a human and animal for them to work together like that.

@daltonbarrett6404 I think they mean it’s pathetic to protect a dog and not your “girl” which could be a spouse or your child. I agree that that’s pathetic.

Sean, I’d do the same for any of my puppers and I’ve got kids. So it’s nothing to do with substituting for a child or being a “wine mom”. My husband would too. I don’t really have to worry about one of them because while he’s friendly, he wouldn’t hesitate to defend himself or me. My older girl wouldn’t. She’d never hurt a human. People steal dogs all the time to use as bait dogs. My oldest was one. Luckily she survived but she’s got the physical and emotional scars to prove it. They trust me completely. I wouldn’t betray that trust with letting someone take them and use them for God knows what.

@mattmurphy7030 I do have kids and would do the same. The point trying to be made is this response has nothing to do with being a woman without children.
