Nope. Natural citizenship is given 2 ways in the US. Being born in the country and being born to a citizen. Both are recognized in the Constitution as citizenship at birth. So being born outside the country to a citizen doesn't disqualify you. That's still a natural born citizen. Becoming a citizen through immigration and applying for it is a naturalized citizen and they can not be President.

@HesderOleh The Constitution is VERY clear on requirements for President. The "law" isn't contradicting itself. The case he's talking about has to do with due process and legal obligations of the government for citizens abroad, ie Embassies. The 5th amendment is about government prosecution and protections for citizens. It has nothing to do with the requirements for President. The other thing he sites isn't a case at all. It's an opinion from a law professor that's been debunked multiple times by other Constitutional law professors.

@baconation2637 Then his "side" is lying. It's probably even on his wikipedia page. He calls himself a naturalized citizen which means citizenship through immigration. Natural born means born in the country or to a citizen.

Exactly. When he was governor of California people were pushing hard for an amendment to allow him to run.

@HesderOleh Same. My oldest was born in Canada when you just needed a driver's license to cross the border. No proof of legal entry (no stamp) when you did that so getting his citizenship straightened out was a nightmare. We had to get our federal Representative involved.

He's said the opposite. That's she's not being red pilled and people saying that don't know what they're talking about.

Yes. Unfortunately my son was born in Canada when you only need any ID to cross. So it's more complicated if you weren't aware you had to register his birth. That's done for you on bases. It's so common though, immigration created an entire department to take care of them. Canada was unusual because most were born in Mexico because it was cheap to just cross the border. Instead of that, his passport is his proof of citizenship.

I hope you're being sarcastic. If not you're not very bright. The requirements for President are expressly given in the Constitution. They exclude naturalized citizens, those who get citizenship through immigration. That can't be changed without an amendment to the Constitution explicitly addressing the requirements. The Constitution can't contradict itself. Edit: My son can't get high security clearance because he's got dual citizenship. That's not violating the Constitution or any act passed by Congress because it's a security reason. President is the highest security clearance in the country. So of course someone that immigrated here can't hold that office.
