  1. Recessions are a normal pat of market fluctuation in a capitalist economy. They are normally quick and not major economic events. Recessions are self correcting. It is Government that turns then into depressions. It was the U.S. Federal Reserve, for exampe, that turned a perfectly normal, run of a mill ecession into the Great Depression by severely tightening the money supply.
