Any Mom that would make a cross-country trip, come to the tent, and make you baking powder biscuits from scratch is a keeper. What a lovely lady. My Grandmother used to make baking powder biscuits (bpb) when I was a kid and I used to make them when I was younger. When I saw your Mom measuring out the salt I KNEW what she was making. You are one extra lucky guy. If you want to try an alternate bpb dessert topping that my Grandmother used to make, try this. Cut up fresh strawberries into little pieces (minus the greens - duh). Put in a bowl, and coat them heavily with sugar, stir and repeat. Then put the bowl in the fridge for a few hours. Stir occasionally. The sugar will draw the juice out of the berries and sweeten it. When there's as much juice as berries, you're ready to go. Split a bpb and scoop a bunch of the berries/juice on top. Add whipped cream and start eating. It's Heaven on Earth. You'll have to force yourself to stop eating it, it's that good.
