  1. Ironically, Kentucky did not secede from the Union and was officially "neutral" during the civil war. Kentucky forbade it's residents from joining either side of the conflict, and any Kentucky resident that joined the army of either side was forever "exiled" from the state. Kentucky rescinded that policy when the war ended. But...there was no official "Kentucky Cavalry" on either side of the civil war. Even more ironically...the "Emancipation Proclamation" did NOT free the slaves in states which had not seceded from the union...Missouri, Kentucky, Maryland, Delaware.
