@triciadomayer6760 LOL!!!!!!!!!!! The drivers in Chicago in the 1920s were "not allowed" to carry guns either. Company policies are NOT laws.

@The Dave...Ironically, Uber and Lyft are the result of ignoring government regulations and licensing requirements. It goes to show what can be accomplished without government regulation and interference. At the same time, the services are embraced more by young people who tend to be more in favor of government control. Right, until they have to PAY FOR IT! The fact is that the main competitor for cas is the auto rental business. Given that in most cities you can rent a car for a full day for about the same price as ONE taxi ride from the airport to the city, cabs have a hard time competing except in cities where a car is a liability (NYC, Chicago, etc) In most areas of the country, the $19.95 daily rental is destroying the taxi business.

@thedave7760 Already happening. In one city I know of, one taxi company equipped their cabs with radio scanners and listened in to the frequency of the other cab company. When a cab was dispatched to a particular location by "Company A", a cab from "Company B" would overhear it and if they could get there first, 9 times out of 10 the waiting customers would just jump in and go! "Company A" started dispatching by text messages on company issued smart phones and their business more than doubled! The smart phones also allowed them to monitor the location of the taxis and dispatch the one closest to the call...cutting wait time for the customer. I think you could call that "cyber war"
