  1. Under federal law they are all subject to revocation of immigration benefits and mandatory deportation for unlawfully claiming to be US citizens. "Prosecution" is not needed, they are supposed to be deported by DHS. My wife is a naturalized citizen. During the time she was a Permanent Resident (green card holder) we were meticulously careful NOT to claim she was a US citizen for ANY REASON. It can be difficult since in many instances people just assume you are a citizen, and you MUST be clear that you are NOT a citizen. The worst culprits are the DMV employees who seem to WANT to register everyone to vote. When we went to get her first driver's license, I literally had to tell the clerk THREE TIMES she is NOT a US Citizen and, please DO NOT register her to vote. She kept handing things to my wife to sign, and they all had the "US Citizen" box checked! They seem to be confused as to how to handle someone that is not a US citizen. We had the same problem with the Social Security Administration. The SSA clerk first told she could not have a Social Security number because she "was not a US Citizen". Nonsense. She has a green card. The supervisor came and solved the problem...by simply checking the box that she WAS a US Citizen! I finally had to get the Supervisor's supervisor to train them on how to handle a Permanent Resident. These people voted multiple times, so it wasn't just a mistake. That said, if you are a green card holder, DO NOT let these idiots mess up all your work and effort.
