  1. There will be NOT be less training. In fact the new law REQUIRES the state to develop and offer FREE safety training. FREE usually equals more training. It will mean less $$$ LTC instructor's pocket...NOT "less training". 20 states have this provision. Twenty. NONE of them have had an increase in the rate of firearms related accidents. To imagine that untrained people, who have not carried a gun until now, will suddenly go out, buy guns and carry them, just because they can, is ridiculous. No more than people will drink alcohol, smoke cigarettes that didn't before. And more to the point...it assumes people can't handle the responsibility of FREEDOM. That goes against the founding intent of the country. It also assumes that Texans are somehow less able to handle FREEDOM than people from Missouri, Kentucky, Iowa, Arizona and 16 other states. Nonsense. Doing the same thing over and over and expecting a different result is the definition of "insanity". Why would anyone expect a different result in Texas than in TWENTY other states?
