Correct. 100% If you can't COMPETE, you should go out of business.

And unless they pay enough to compete with other businesses, the signs will always be there.

@Fifth Federal unemployment benefits ended Sept. 6 in ALL states. Many states ended it in June. Excuse doesn't work anymore.

@professorlaiceps1 Covid changed a LOT of things permanently. Commercial real estate will be affected for decades as whole swaths of workers and employers work from home, business travel and hospitality will be crushed, people got used to "Zoom meetings". Hundreds of thousands of people retired early rather than gradually over the next 3-5 years. Millions of people no longer go to restaurants or do carry out. Jobs which depended on tips are no longer attractive...not enough customers to produce enough tips to be interesting. Millions of people discovered they can buy anything online This will, for a very long time to come, realign what businesses need to pay for employees at ALL levels. Much more so than any "minimum wage" law could do. They need to compete. They need to offer whatever level of pay and benefits it takes to attract workers. OR go out of business. If it takes $25/hr. and benefits to attract employees to Mcdonalds, then PAY IT, or close the business.

@Fifth If they can't, they need to fold up their tent and find another business. That's how capitalism works. No business is entitled to workers working at lower wage levels than they can get at another employer across the street. No business is entitled to success. We all want the opportunity to succeed, but it comes with the opportunity to fail. Why on earth would an employee subsidize their employer's business by depriving their family of higher income that they can get elsewhere? It's not even reasonable to imagine they would!

@Fifth Right. People like you and millions others. You're absolutely right. Why should you? Why would you? Just saying that the unemployment "excuse" still gets used (by other people such as the guy in this interview) and it has not been a factor for at least 4 months.

Federal unemployment benefits ended in ALL states on September 6, 2021. In 25 states the Federal unemployment benefits ended by the end of June, 2021. Blaming unemployment benefits is getting old. It never was the reason. Only people who are uninformed believe that nonsense. REAL reasons? When people were unemployed in 2020 and received state unemployment + $600/wk they trained themselves for other careers, they started their own businesses and/or they retired if they were age 62+ and collected both Social Security AND unemployment (and YES you can collect both in ALL states) REAL solutions? People are now using their new training to get better paying jobs, they are NEVER going back to working low wage jobs with no benefits in businesses that can be closed on the whim of Dr. Fauci. PAY MORE, give better benefits. COMPETE! Expecting people to work for you when they can get better pay somewhere else is STUPID. Any business that STUPID deserves to go out of business. The federal vaccine mandates are on hold or have been stayed by courts. The Supreme Court WILL overturn them. The hearing on it is Friday. Expect a decision by the 14th of January. ANY employer mandating vaccines on their own is STUPID. Their unvaccinated employees will QUIT and go get one of the 12 million other jobs available. Any employer choosing to mandate vaccines deserves to go out of business.
