  3. Actually, Dorian, the cloture limits the debate to a maximum of 30 hours to the vote. (And it often goes a bit beyond that) They can agree to a vote sooner, though I doubt the Dems will in this case. They can have the vote and McConnell can hold the vote open...not limiting the time to vote...if necessary. If Murkowski were to vote "present" rather than YES or NO, (as you suggested) then that would seal the deal and McConnell could close the vote, and all that WILL be know before the vote starts.

  6. Manchin is NOT in a "swing state". However, "conservative" Dems in some (mostly southern, but some western) states are not unusual. Trump won WV by 46 points, it is NOT a swing state, but Manchin has been, in the past, good for WV. He may be re-elected. Time for him to switch parties if he is.
