The big "complaint" of the Democrats in the Senate was that the "business tax cuts were permanent" (I would contend nothing in Washington is "permanent") and the individual tax cuts were "temporary" (for 10 years, which is longer than most "permanent" things in Washington). The Republicans did the tax cuts that way in order to avoid needing to get a cloture of 60 votes, which they would have needed to make the "temporary" tax cuts permanent, which the Dems said they would vote for, but really wouldn't. OK, that's water under the bridge...done deal. Dems don't like it, but that makes it better. NOW, Democrats will have their chance to vote to make the individual tax cuts "permanent". What an opportunity! Especially in an election year! Imagine the Republicans giving them this opportunity! I am looking forward to the Democrat's recording their votes on this issue, just before the election. No rush, guys. Put it to a vote just before the summer recess when Dems will be campaigning.
