  2. Well, it may not be to the advantage of your state. She uses her clout as a "swing vote" to get goodies for YOUR state. She has never had a truly powerful position (BECAUSE she is not a reliable Republican vote) so, unlike Senator Leahy from VT, (who gets goodies WAY OUT of proportion for the population of Vermont) she has to use her THREAT of voting for Dem causes to get "stuff". Her tactic only works as long as the Republicans have a very small majority OR if they are in a minority and she makes up the swig vote for a filibuster. When the Republicans no longer "need" her vote, she will be tossed on the trash heap...and so will the interests of the State of Maine. Better for MAINE if they elected a reliable Republican.
