  1. That is in "Freedom Square", at one end of the huge square. At the other end was a huge statue of Lenin. The Lenin statue was removed but not until 2014. This is where the very elaborate and beautiful city Christmas Tree is set up every year and where the people of Kharkiv celebrate New Year's Eve. Think of Times Square in NYC, but MUCH larger (and not so filled with advertisement) My wife was born and raised in Kharkiv. Our youngest son and his family, her brother and his family, her mother, one of our grandchildren, our nephews are there now. Pray for the safety of all Ukrainians. Slava Ukraina!
