  1. Lots of employers are simply laying off workers instead of keeping them on the payroll. Why? Because the workers would rather be laid off and collect their state's unemployment PLUS $600 per week from the Feds. It costs the companies nothing and gives the workers a LOT more or EQUAL income (in most cases, maybe not all). My wife just got her pay DOUBLED on unemployment and her company cut the payroll to -0-. What were they expecting? She is getting "double time" pay to stay at home for, hopefully, the next 13 weeks. I am retired and have a good income from SS and secure, non-stock investments. We will stash the $$$ until things settle and use it to pay down principal on our home, hopefully. Did they expect businesses to go into "low interest" DEBT or to go through the hassle of a "PPP" when they can just simply lay off the workers, cut payroll to -0-, and let employees collect DOUBLE their normal pay? 🤣
