OR if Trump continues as an Independent after he is rejected by the Republican party Trump will NOT be the Republican nominee because the Republican party will not allow a criminal defendant's name anywhere near a primary ballot. Whether he runs as an independent is up to him. If he cares about the country, he would drop out and endorse Ron DeSantis.

It would be insane political suicide. Trump's name will not appear on any Republican primary ballot. If he runs as an independent, or if he generates enough write in votes...it will assure Biden's reelection. He will be another 'Ross Perot' and simply get Biden reelected with 40% of the vote.
