  2.  @andrewblanchard2398  You are correct that neither is going to be defunded in FY 2023. The Republicans just voted to increase the budget for both organizations until October, 2023. You are incorrect about the USA funding the UN. The USA provides 22% of the funding for the UN. Nearly a quarter of all funding for a 180+ member organization. The UN would absolutely cease to exist if the USA pulled it's funding of the organization.

  4.  @mslisa5791  Why not? Because Republicans just joined Democrats in a $1.7 trillion budget orgy which allowed the Democrats to write the federal budget halfway to the next election! Democrats had -0- chance of passing that mess without Republican's support. They got it.

  5.  @richardclifton4120  Correct. And ONLY because Republicans went along with it. We need to stop blaming Democrats for this. It's like blaming a tiger for having stripes. Democrats did what Democrats do. There was NO CHANCE that could pass without the Republican's support. And Republicans went right along with it.

  6.  @ronschlorff7089  Tell the Republicans that voted for it. Without them, it would not have passed. It would not have even come to a vote in the Senate. As for NATO, we are never obligated to provide troops to any other NATO which is attacked. ARTICLE V “The Parties agree that an armed attack against one or more of them in Europe or North America shall be considered an attack against them all and consequently they agree that, if such an armed attack occurs, each of them, in exercise of the right of individual or collective self-defense recognized by Article 51 of the Charter of the United Nations, will assist the Party or Parties so attacked by taking forthwith, individually and in concert with the other Parties, such action as it deems necessary including the use of armed force, to restore and maintain the security of the North Atlantic area. Any such armed attack and all measures taken as a result thereof shall immediately be reported to the Security Council. Such measures shall be terminated when the Security Council has taken the measures necessary to restore and maintain international peace and security.” So, even NATO does not obligate us to do anything more than what we are doing for Ukraine. Would we? Maybe. MUST we? No.

  7.  @mslisa5791  In addition to my other reply to you...the federal government IS obligated to provide certain services to the States. The Constitution is available for you to read. You can do so using the same device you posted this reply with. Without the federal government, there is no United States. Just States. Does the federal government do too much? No doubt, yes. Are they doing things that should be left to the states under the 10th Amendment? I believe they are. That said, there WILL ALWAYS BE a Federal Government and a Federal Government budget as long as there is a "United States of America" FWIW, the federal budget has NEVER been reduced by ANY administration. Republican or Democrat.
