Timing IS everything. Dems, and their media allies, have been doing all they can to AVOID discussing immigration and the economy. This is an "80/20 issue" with the HUGE majority of Americans being against birthright citizenship. Trump will sign it, the Republicans will get a boost and Dems will be FORCED to oppose it by their radical base. Pay careful attention...IT DOES NOT MATTER if he can actually do this or not. What MATTERS is forcing Democrats in "toss up" states and districts to defend the "rights" of illegal aliens to have "anchor babies". That's it, that's all. FORCE the Democrats and the media to change the narrative to one benefiting Republicans. If, the Supreme Court eventually rules that the 14th does not apply to illegal immigrants, so much the better.

@OldManShoutsAtClouds THAT's the idea! MAKE them defend birthright citizenship 7 days before the election. Constitution or not, it is NOT a winning issue for Dems. Take the narrative OFF the bomber and the shooter and shine the light on IMMIGRATION and the coming invasion of anchor babies! Let President Trump defend an amendment designed to protect Black people while the Dems defend illegal aliens! OH YEAH! THIS is politics. Deal with it.

Even though the 2nd Amendment says "The right of the people to keep and bear arms shall not be infringed" The 2nd amendment does NOT apply to illegal aliens and they are specifically NOT allowed to own firearms, though they are definitely "people". ONLY US citizens and LEGAL PERMANENT RESIDENTS may purchase/own firearms. Why would the 14th Amendment be different? FACT: The Supreme Court has never ruled on birthright citizenship for illegal aliens. I think it is about time they did.

@XHitsugaX Trump can do anything he wants. It is up to the COURTS (not you or me) to decide whether he has the authority to do so. The Supreme Court has not ruled on the birthrights of babies of illegal aliens. Maybe they should. They HAVE ruled that the children of PERMANENT RESIDENTS born in the USA are US citizens. Trump's order will have the affect of FORCING a Supreme Court decision down the road. You have to get out of the "he can't do this" mindset and get into the "what if he does" mindset. What if he does? He FORCES the issue to the Courts and eventually to the Supreme Court on which he just seated Gorsuch and Kavanaugh. Otherwise, when will this happen? Congress will not pass a law on this issue. Meanwhile, we are talking about what Trump wants us to talk about. And THAT is the idea until the election. I welcome Democrats defending the "rights" of illegal aliens using an amendment designed to protect former slaves. LOL
