  4. But if she still "caucuses" with Democrats, it makes no difference in the Senate majority make up. That's why Dems get to "count" Sanders and King in their majority numbers. Joe Manchin should be next. If they even do not declare who they will caucus with it would make the Senate 49-49. If they declare they will caucus with Republicans, Republicans will have the majority, 51-49. I don't see that happening. BTW, Cory Mills is my new Congressman elect! He is in the redrawn 7th district which used to be represented by a Democrat. I was previously in the 6th district (DeSantis' old district) but when it was redrawn, I was included in the 7th. It got rid of one Democrat.

  5. Wrong. 1. The post election Senate count will be 51-49. as for this congress, today is the last day of the session. 2. If Sinema declares she is an Independent but still "caucuses" with Democrats, they keep her in their "seat count". Just as they get to "count" Sanders (I-VT) and King (I-ME) 3. If she declares she will caucus with the Republicans, the seat count would go to 50-50. Kamala Harris breaks the tie and nothing changes. I highly doubt that will happen.

While you are correct in raw numbers, it was 50R, 48D and 2 I, the independents declared they caucus with the Democrats. Under the Senate rules, that makes them "count" as Democrats. That is NOT a "media lie". It's just a fact, whether you like it or not. In the new Congress, with Sinema's change, it will be 49R, 48D and 3 I. Two of the Independents already caucus with Dems, that makes it 50D, 49R. IF Sinema caucuses with Republicans (extremely unlikely) it will be 50R, 50D and Kamala Harris will break the tie. If she does not declare who she will caucus with, (she doesn't have to) it will be 50D, 49R. Sinema could say nothing and the Dems still have the majority. UNLESS Sinema declares she will caucus with Republicans AND another Democrat Senator defects (Manchin?) and declares they will caucus with Republicans, Democrats WILL have the majority in the Senate for the next 2 years. All of that happening is about as likely as Donald Trump being chosen as Speaker of the House.
