The good news for taxpayers...and bad news for YOU is that this will very likely be blocked by a federal judge. The President doesn't have the authority to spend $300,000,000,000 without the approval of congress.

Why didn't you get a good degree that would give you a good job? where does the money come from to pay off the debts (they aren't cancelled, they are paid off by the people who DIDN'T agree to them) The money comes OUT of the economy. So you TAKE money OUT of the economy in one sector and give it back to the economy in another sector. To be more precise, you TAKE money from people who earn it with hard work or marketable college degrees and GIVE it to people to can't get a job with the degree they have. That's STUPID. I do not think YOU, or anyone that couldn't graduate college without student debt, can make better decisions about money than I can.

@truthseekerlana9871 Student loans can't be discharged in bankruptcy. The government that wrote the bankruptcy laws protected themselves. That said...it's the problem of people who made BAD CHOICES. They need to deal with it.

@crazyelf3839 What Pelosi states really doesn't matter. Then or now. What matters is the Constitution and the Constitution gives the "power of the purse" to Congress. The President cannot authorize the expenditure of ANY funds not approved by legislation in Congress. There are some rare exceptions to this where a President can MOVE money, already approved by Congress for other purposes, during the declaration of an emergency. I cannot imagine federal courts would support it for this instance. I expect this order to be enjoined quickly and eventually make it's way to the Supreme Court where it will be rejected. Those with irresponsible student loans should probably not count their chickens yet. I know all of this because I got a college education in subjects which were valuable and didn't need student loans because I was smart enough to get scholarships and work.

Did the people "in the past" CHOOSE to get the disease? Did they voluntarily ASK to get the disease? Did they read all the terms of getting the disease, fully understand what would happen when they got this disease and SIGN A CONTRACT to get the disease? This bailout for YOUR bad choices is not like "curing a disease", because the disease still exists. It is not a bailout for FUTURE students...just for ones who already made bad CHOICES. Your analogy sounds like you never graduated 8th grade. No wonder you can't keep a job and have student debt.

The military is the constitutional responsibility and duty of the Federal government. YOUR student loan is not.

So... YOUR student loan = The Constitutional requirement for the Federal government to "provide for the common defense"? Cure for a disease? Well, let's see. This "cure" only applies to people who CURRENTLY have this "disease" and ONLY to people who CHOSE to have this disease, AND it will not "cure" anyone who gets the disease in the future. You graduated college?
