I understand. He was my Congressman before he was my Governor. I didn't want to lose him as my Congressman, but now I am glad I did! If you recall, he promised to serve only 2 terms as Congressman, because he believed in term limits. He could easily have changed his mind and have been reelected to Congress. But he didn't. He has said he is committed to serving as the Governor of Florida for the term he is running for, and if I believe anyone, I believe Ron DeSantis. I don't think he will run for President in 2024. And he would not be a good VP choice for Trump if Trump runs. Two white guys from Florida on the ticket? Trump would be far better off with someone like Kim Klacik or Elise Stephanik. I expect DeSantis to be re-elected Governor and run for President in 2028. He is term limited after his next term. He would be a GREAT US Attorney General after he finishes his 2nd term as Governor in 2026.

@eeezumblogspot6076 If they both run it would be in the Republican primaries, not the general election. ONE of them, not both, would get the nomination to run in the general election. In any case, I don't see DeSantis running for President in 2024 or accepting a VP offer from anyone.

@beverlythompson7046 DeSantis will be term limited after 2026. I don't think we will "lose" him before then. He will definitely be a very hard act to follow. I think he has set a very high standard and hopefully we will demand that from our next Governor also.

@sosuapimp8449 Do you think Scott was as good as DeSantis? Was Jeb Bush as good as DeSantis? How about Charlie Crist? The former Republican Governor who is now a Democrat Congressman? Florida hasn't has a Democrat Governor for 23 years! Which of them were as good as DeSantis? And Florida is NOT "ruby red". In a state with 24 million people, Republicans have an advantage in registrations of 100,000. That's 4/10s of ONE percent. You call that "ruby red"? Our congressional delegation is 59% Republican. 11 of those 16 Republican seats were won by less than 3%. Even though Trump nearly tripled his margin of victory in Florida in 2020, compared to 2016, he won by 3.2 points. Do not take anything for granted in Florida.
