A FOID card is not a CC license. Separate things. IL does issue concealed carry licenses but a FOID card is not it. The FOID (Firearm Owner's ID) card, in IL, only allows you to purchase and possess firearms and ammunition in your home, at a shooting range, or while hunting.

@davidvonkettering204 The IL FOID card clearly states, on the card, in red letters "CAUTION: This card does not permit bearer to UNLAWFULLY carry or use firearms. This does not authorize the carrying of a concealed weapon" You knew that, right? IL has a "Shall issue" concealed carry permit system. It is a separate license. He didn't have one. A concealed carry license does not authorize pointing firearms at police. In IL, stating he had a "valid FOID card" is as relevant to this incident as saying he had an old "Reader's Digest" on his coffee table.

@BlackFreemen Hopefully, yes.

@internationalaugyst2558 The Supreme Court has held that the Constitution says we have the right to keep and bear arms of the type in common use for lawful purposes. Nothing in the Constitution says we have the right to threaten police officers with them.

@ClapDemNalgas773 I haven't seen any evidence of that being the case. If you have, please link to the source. Rumors and innuendo don't count.
2
@ClapDemNalgas773 "Witnesses" speaking to reporters don't count, as I said. Have you got a link to the medical examiner's report? Provide it please. Otherwise...you are just cherry picking something you want to hear.

@ThrowedoffLo Meanwhile...last night, TWO LIVES were lost over senseless violence in downtown Chicago by "teenagers". Yesterday alone, black teenagers killed TWICE AS MANY black teenagers as the police did. Doesn't mean anything, though. Right?

@ClapDemNalgas773 No. Those videos will NEVER be admitted to a trial. Witness testimony will count when they testify under oath in court and are cross examined by the defense. Not before. Not ever. Again, if you have EVIDENCE of what you said, then please reference the source. People talking to reporters on video is NEVER, EVER evidence. This is unverified hearsay. "He said, she said" But it appears to be what YOU want to hear. You are biased, I am not.

@ClapDemNalgas773 I have none. I didn't say I did. I said that a FOID card does not allow concealed carry and provided the "proof" by quoting the red letter statement on the FOID card. You are free to put "IL FOID card" in your search engine, click on "images" and see them for yourself. I also said that having a FOID card is not relevant to this case. It isn't. Having a FOID does not make the person shot innocent and does not make the police guilty. It is an irrelevant fact that he was legally allowed to OWN a firearm. But this is what happens when people speak to reporters. They give incorrect and irrelevant information. This is why we have trials, sworn testimony and cross examination. I did NOT say that the person in this case pointed a gun at police officers. I said, that no document issued by the state allowed him to do so. You assumed I said that. I did not. I do not respond to what other people said. Take it up with them, not me. EVIDENCE will be presented at trial, if there is probable cause for a trial, and a jury will determine if anyone is guilty of a crime in this case. Or do you prefer mob lynching?

@ClapDemNalgas773 You are assuming. I'm not. I said that in response to someone that said we should not need a license to carry a concealed weapon. I agree with that. We don't need a license to carry concealed handguns in the state where I live. But we still can't threaten police with them. Please be sure to read what I said in context to what I was responding to. Nothing in the Constitution says we can threaten police officers, or anyone else, with firearms. That's a fact. Period. I am trying very hard to defend our system of justice. Innocent until proven guilty and protection of the accused. Why do you prefer lynching?
1
@ClapDemNalgas773 I answered all your questions. Please answer mine. You have made unequivocal statements that the police officer(s) shot someone in the back and are cowards, without any evidence whatsoever. You have insinuated that evidence would be "lost". I guess that means that if, under oath, some those people who said one thing to the reporters say something else in court or can no longer be found when it comes time to testify under oath. I will accept the results of our justice system. I have three questions: 1. Why do you prefer mob lynching to the system of being presumed innocent until proven guilty? 2. Should mob lynching apply to anyone accused of a crime, or just police officers? 3. Will you accept the results of our justice system? I look forward to your answers.

@curtishudson9759 They never mentioned a CCL. Only a FOID card. FOID cards are not a CCL.

>>>Some will jump to the conclusion that it's a license to conceal carry which it is not, and take to the streets in protest based solely on your headline.<<< That may BE the intent of the media. I can't prove it, of course, but it seems rather convenient for them to be so irresponsible. IL has had the FOID system since 1968. It would seem like, after 55 years, reporters might know what it is. I will even go out on a limb and say some of those reporters have a FOID card themselves and KNOW that it clearly states in RED LETTERS that it is not a license to carry firearms.
