  1. Well...Dems shouldn't celebrate TOO much. Palin's loss was precipitated by another of the top four finishers dropping out after the election. This was a Special election to fill the seat until the end of the year (2022) In November, the same candidates will face off again, but without the person that dropped out. Along with a higher expected turnout, Palin is still favored to win the seat in November for the full 2 year term. Much ado about not much. Alaska should just go with a "jungle primary" and let the one with the most votes win. I can understand the desire to avoid runoffs in such a huge and sparsely populated state. RCV is not needed at all for general elections.
