Letitia James is the State Attorney General. Not the "District Attorney" It is extremely difficult to prove that someone defrauded banks by inflating the value of real estate property (this is what she is trying to do) because it is typically necessary for the lenders to get appraisals from licensed appraisers. Also, the values of real property can vary greatly from month-to-month or from appraiser to appraiser.

@colinkillian9265 If you recall, Senator Bernie Sanders' wife was investigated by the FBI for similar charges. The college she was the President of went bankrupt (Burlington College) and defaulted on loans. The market value of the property the college owned was less than what was stated on loan papers she had signed. Again, the lenders had approved the loan amounts and had had the property appraised prior to making loans. His wife was never charged with a crime. Can you imagine if every homeowner that ever defaulted on a mortgage and then the lender found the home's market value didn't cover the outstanding balance was charged with a crime!?!?!?!?

@Oldgoldminer Because she is desperate to establish that some crime has been committed for her to investigate, when, in fact, her campaign for her office was based on political persecution of a person she had no way of knowing if there was evidence a crime was committed. "Elect me and I will abuse my authority investigate Trump!" Everything downstream from that is calculated, pre-meditated abuse of power. That was 2018. Trump had not yet been impeached. Mueller had failed to find any Russian collusion. 2019 came and went and Letitia James had done nothing, so they impeached Trump for a phone call, then for a speech. Didn't work. He can still run for office. He is still popular! Letitia James! HELP! Save us from Trump! That's all this is. Somewhere up the line, there IS a judge that will rule on that.

@sylviabierle This is pretty simple. Letitia James campaigned to get her job on "bringing down" Trump. She didn't. She is up for election again this year. She is trying to fulfill her promise, at Trump's expense. The Democrat party is hoping she can find ANYTHING to ruin his political career so he can't run for President in 2024. In the United States, you cannot pick a person and decide to use the law to harass that person. There has to BE a crime committed and then you have to have "probable cause" to believe a person committed THAT crime to open an investigation into that person. Saying you will use your power and authority to investigate someone before it is even possible for you to know if any crime has even been committed, is illegal. Who is the complainant? Who is the victim? What crime was committed? Trump will, eventually, find a judge that will throw this case out. The first judge, in ruling he must give testimony in a deposition, even said that "Trump is a bad guy that needs to be investigated" !!!!! There was no evidence presented that ANYONE was a "bad guy" and no such evidence exists. This deposition is an attempt to find evidence. That isn't how it works in a free country. Lawyers call it a "fishing expedition". Trump has appealed the case. If necessary he can appeal it to the Supreme Court.

@Oldgoldminer Tax assessment values are not used by banks, they rarely represent market property values. They are the taxable value of the property.
