"I think the levies are secure enough for this kind of storm" They said that in August, 2005 also.

I live in Florida. This is why I fill my reserve fuel tank for my generator and vehicles in May each year. It is store outside, safely away from my home in a shaded and ventilated building. If I have not used the fuel by November, it gets used in my car and I buy fresh fuel the next year. I never wait in gas lines.

C S "you're", NOT "your". Words mean things. 🤪 Anytime anyone stores any amount of gasoline, there is a fire risk. So yes. I am an accidental fire waiting to happen. Far away from my home or any valuable structure in a ventilated and shaded building. If it all goes up tonight, I'll lose a shed and some gasoline. Probably singe a few trees. I'm good with that.

Biden will not be answering any questions about the government response. VP Harris is going to St. Louis in 4 months to survey the damage.
10
Maybe FEMA should be prepared with such things. Ask Joe Biden why they aren't. I am sure he will be glad to answer your questions.
9
In 4 months VP Harris will visit St. Louis to survey the damage.
9
I have not seen even ONE update from the Federal government on their preparations. Does Biden plan to blame this crisis on Trump and/or DeSantis also? Claim "there is no disaster" and 4 months later send Kamala Harris to St. Louis to survey the damage?

Always. Be. Armed.

Why does Clancy think the people of Louisiana cannot handle the same FREEDOM as the people of 28 other states? That sounds very condescending. Please explain. This policy has not resulted in "the wild west" in 28 other states...why will it happen in Louisiana?
5
I hope so. Because Biden is doing nothing to prepare.
5
Louisiana has a Democrat Governor and Democrat Mayor of New Orleans. ALL the people in charge of government preparation in Louisiana are Democrats.
5
Always be armed. Good thing Biden and Harris are in charge. Right?
5
Must be something that isn't a thing where I live. What is the "jogger problem"?
4
Good news! Louisiana soon to be another constitutional carry state!
4
@DebraJohnson Actually, there was. I live in Florida and I was tracking this storm long before it became a hurricane and it was predicted to hit between Houston and Pensacola for more than a week before it even became a hurricane. And at the time they predicted it WOULD be a "major hurricane" (cat 3 or higher) due to conditions in the Gulf. That said, the time to prepare for hurricanes is before the season starts June 1. If you live in a hurricane prone area, you are prepared by June 1. Period. Nothing more to discuss. If you don't, it's on you! Some people make really stupid decisions. Stop making excuses for them. ALL of my preparations are done before Memorial day every year. ALL.

Bribes? In New Orleans? I had no idea there was bribery in New Orleans! And yet, some people still want "the government" to insure their "homes are safe" 🤣
3
@whiskers78753 Those people are going to be very disappointed in Biden's response.
2
Good luck, Louisiana. Biden is President*. I hope your Governor and state emergency agencies can handle this. VP Kamala Harris will probably go to St. Louis to survey the damage, if she even gets that close. But you may make a convenient excuse to get Afghanistan out of the news cycle.
2
Remember that Biden is President and someone that checked an identity politics box is FEMA director. Biden will not be taking any questions about the hurricane

I live in Florida. I have a concrete block home on relatively high ground (for Florida) with hurricane rated window covers, door covers, garage door reinforcement, standing seam metal roof and a dual fuel, whole house generator. My fuel, water and food supplies are all laid in by June 1 every year. It is part of the cost of living here. I get my money back by not having any snow removal costs and over $600/year discounts on my homeowners insurance. 😁 When we have been hit by hurricanes, it amounts to cleaning up some branches in the yard. And resetting the clock on the microwave when we switch to generator power. I end up doing more work to help my neighbors than doing anything to fix my home. I'm a serious DIY'er and the neighbors know who has the tools, and a portable generator to power them. Otherwise our life is little changed. No need for government. Otherwise, it would be like expecting the government to shovel snow off your driveway if you live in the north.

@mikemorrel8312 The people responsible for every aspect of emergency response in Louisiana: Federal, State and Local are DEMOCRATS. Just because the people voted for Trump as President does NOT make it a "red state" The Governor of Louisiana is a Democrat.

Anyone heard an update from the Federal Government? What is Biden doing to prepare for this?
1
Ask Joe Biden. He will walk away and not answer. Ask Kamala Harris...she will cackle loudly and go to St. Louis, 4 months from now, to check it out.
1
Not much at all in the news about this, except for local news. Not at all like when Katrina hit. I wonder why? Yep...just checked the news feeds. Not a word...not ONE word about the hurricane effects in Louisiana OR the NE United States. Nothing about global climate change either. Nothing. Why is that? 😏

@longdaddy5211 Thanks for the info.

Has anyone heard even one update on what the federal government is preparing for a response? Has there been a declaration of emergency ahead of this? What resources have been put in place for rapid response? Anything from FEMA? From DHS?
1
Joe Biden had a press conference today. Didn't take any questions, but assured everyone that the response to the hurricane was the best ever and the best ever anyone could ever imagine and that his administration was the best. Ever. No worries.
