Also, Dry rotted tires, lack of fuel, low morale of troops...caused by drones dropping grenades, AT4s, NLAWs, M2HB machine guns...lack of interior cargo space for washing machines. Basically the same problems as all the other Russian equipment.

Metallic firearm cartridges will never be successful either. Armored surfaces can deflect bullets and you can see where they are coming from. Right? I would never be so foolish to doubt that something will never be. When I was in 3rd grade, my teacher told me man could never go to the moon. My mother died of cancer in 1963 that has a 95% cure rate today. In 1963 it was a death sentence. I don't know a damn thing about lasers, but I do know that most of the things we use all day every day were considered sci-fi 50 or 60 years ago.

Each one shot down is a BARGAIN in comparison of the cost of the damage it will do if NOT shot down. You seem to think this is a war between military hardware with no people, homes, electric power plants, heat, water, light, businesses, transportation or damage to repair. Are you an idiot?!?!?!? How much money do you think is lost if a city the size of Chicago is blacked out for 2 days?

@tanmaykumar4561 Metallic cartridges were NOT successful when they were first introduced because they were NOT cheap and easy produce and greatly complicated logistics. Loose powder could be used with anything from a handgun to a cannon. Cartridges fit only specific firearms. Metallic cartridges were every bit as complicated, expensive and unwieldly when they were first introduced as lasers are now. THAT was the point, which you do seem to have taken. Thanks.

Killing a $20,000 drone saves hundreds of thousands in property damage, infrastructure damage and saves lives. And yes, maybe we should send 1000 patriot missiles. they were DESIGNED to shoot down Russian missiles, after all. Let's let the Ukrainians put them to use destroying OUR enemy's equipment! If the City of Chicago was blacked out for 3 days, what would that cost be? Well Kharkiv is about that big. Kyiv is bigger. 40% of Ukraine has no power or intermittent power because of these "low value" drones. What does that cost? Ukraine lies at the same latitude as Canada and a larger population than Canada. 40% of the country has no heat and no running water. Why would you assume the USA would be offensive? Why not let them come to us? Protect our bases in range of China and make them come to the USA.

@nickl5658 Ukraine has other systems also. They don't need Patriots 1 for 1. Ukraine is already shooting down 87% of Russia's drones and cruise missiles. BUT if they need 1000 Patriots, YES we should give them to Ukraine. Russia is OUR enemy. Russia is NATOs enemy. Those missiles were designed to destroy Russian missiles. Let the Ukrainians do it. And let Americans have jobs building them. Do you hate people who work in the defense industry? $4 billion or $40 billion...it's a BARGAIN because it is THEIR lives at risk, not ours. OUR enemy MUST be shown that they CAN NOT just walk into any country they want, declare it their own and get away with it while the USA sits and watches. Until when? Until Russia invades Poland? UPDATE: The answer depends on who is "Commander" in Chief. With Biden in charge, obviously NO! When Trump was in charge, they DID. But Ukrainians are happy that there are no "mean tweets" coming from Trump anymore.

Let's help the Ukrainians destroy OUR enemy with systems WE designed and made for exactly that purpose. WTF are we waiting for?!?!?!? Are we waiting until we also have to sacrifice OUR young men and women along with some hardware? Patriots should have been sent BEFORE the Russians ever invaded. It is an act of gross negligence to have waited this long. If Patriots were so terrible, Russia wouldn't be upset about us giving them to Ukraine. Then, eventually, we will have to use those missiles AND risk our young men and women's lives to boot! "Oh, but Russia is threatened by NATO because Ukraine might join NATO" So they invade Ukraine which would put them on the border with MORE NATO countries? Nonsense. Those missiles were designed and intended to shoot down OUR enemy's missiles. Russia is OUR enemy. What are we waiting for?!?!? The real crime here is that those missiles were not in place before the Russians invaded. It isn't like we didn't see it coming.
