  1. I lived and worked in the former Soviet Union. My wife was born and raised in Kharkov (now Kharkiv). We still have an apartment there and visit several weeks per year. (except 2020 due to covid) To this day if you are asking people things that are really none of your business, they will say "Who are you? A Checkist?" Basically to say...mind your own business!!!!!!!! Have you visited the History Museum in Kharkiv? Very interesting. It was refurbished in 2013. Also I recommend visiting the "Memorial of Glory", the memorial gardens to the 274,000 residents of Kharkiv killed during WW2.
