@JoeBoyle-pe5mw He's right, though. Three easy ways I can think of offhand: 1. Choose an arbitrary age...say 110 years old, and SUSPEND payments to those people. See what happens. If they really are still alive, Social Security will hear about it, tout suite! Then reinstate their payments. 2. Cross reference Medicare. ANYONE receiving Social Security benefits over age 65 has Medicare. Have there been any Medicare claims for that person in the past year? No? SUSPEND their payments! 3. Send a letter to EVERY Social Security recipient over age 100 requesting they appear at their local Social Security office within 90 days. If they do not appear, suspend their payments. If they cannot appear, then a representative must appear with a signed affidavit of where they are living. But here is a very common situation: My mother collects Social Security and is 93 years old. The monthly checks are deposited into an account jointly held by my mother and my sister. If my mother dies and my sister doesn't notify SSA, the checks keep coming every month. 🤔 NO ONE should be opposed to eliminating fraud in Social Security.
