Just so everyone understands...no one Senator can "block" a nominee. EVER. Believe it or not, MOST Senate business is conducted by "unanimous consent". A Senator asks for "unanimous consent" for...anything. If there is no "objection" the bill is adopted or the nominee is accepted. Simple, fast and easy. If there is an objection, then the matter gets placed on the calendar for a debate and floor vote. The ONLY thing one Senator can do is OBJECT to unanimous consent. This forces a debate and a vote on that nominee, rather than just "wave them through". That's it, that's all, nothing more. Given the makeup of the Senate, the nominee WILL be approved by a vote.

@metalted6128 It has nothing to do with anyone's support of Hawley. Very strange that you would think it should. I'm just saying he really did nothing that isn't done every day in the Senate. Every vote the Senate takes is due to someone objecting to a motion for unanimous consent. This is as routine and mundane as it gets. It's like saying "Bravo!" to the window washer... for washing windows. I'm a big supporter of Hawley. Not for this.
