  1. At one time, PBR was the only radio rural areas could get. Commercial stations wouldn't set up there because they couldn't get any advertising dollars for such a limited audience. Those days are long gone, except in the most rural or mountainous area...and satellite radio has even erased any of those areas. There really is no longer any practical reason for government funding of NPR, PBS. Let them live or die in the competitive market.
