The only people disappointed are those that imagined the Senate would actually do something

@brisbanekilarny6212 There is nothing in the Constitution that compels the Senate to actually have a trial. In fact, they had a vote and dismissed the charges. Who is surprised? Not me. I only wrote about a thousand comments saying what would happen if Myorkas (or Biden) is impeached. I'm not guessing. The Republicans had the same opportunity for Trump's first impeachment, and it was considered, AND voted on, but several Republicans joined the Democrats and the motion failed. Republicans never have the 🍒to do what Democrats do. Nothing will change until there is new leadership in the White House. Imagining that it will will result in disappointment.

And, hence the reason Congressman Mike Gallagher (R-WI) voted against impeachment. Was he the only one (besides me) that KNEW this was going nowhere? It was a colossal waste of time, all intended just to get political campaign talking points. There is no constitutional time requirement for the Senate to have a trial just because the House impeached someone. Schumer can decide to it AFTER the election. OR...not have a trial at all. What are the Republicans going to do about it? Sue him? Appeal it? Get a ruling from the Supreme Court next year? I seem to recall Trump trying to postpone HIS trials until after the election. 🤔 Dems have a lot of Senators up for election this cycle. They don't need to be on the record with unpopular votes. (defending Myorkas) Myorkas was never going to be removed anyway, they never had the 67 votes, but Schumer decided it would be better not to go "on the record"...which is all the Republicans ever expected. Schumer didn't fall for the trap. It's time the Republicans started playing F*CK YOU! politics also! (they did when they refused to confirm Merrick Garland to the Supreme Court, but I guess they forgot how)

This is a political procedure, not a legal procedure. There is no "law" requiring a trial in the Senate, the Constitution does not mandate a trial and there is no federal statute. The Senate Majority leader sets the agenda of the Senate. Schumer, all by himself, can simply ignore the actions (any actions) of the House. Unlike Republicans, Democrats do not do things which hurt their own cause. McConnell could have declined to have a trial for Donald Trump. But he caved in and surrendered. McConnell DID refuse to have confirmation hearings for Merrick Garland. I seem to recall the Democrats having similar meltdowns over that. Your disappointment is caused by unreasonable expectations. The Senate was never going to remove Myorkas, and since voting to acquit him would look bad for Senators running for election...they just won't have a trial. Entirely predictable
