  1. The Republican proposal cuts many, many billions from what Biden and the Democrats wanted. NONE of the Dems will vote for it as is. That means McCarthy needs to get 218 votes out of 222 Republicans in the House. Gaetz wants to cut MORE, or he will not vote for the bill (and a few of his compadres also). That means McCarthy will compromise with Dems to get their votes and pass the bill. And cost US more $$$.

  3. Correct, yes. But the problem is he only has a enough votes to force McCarthy to compromise with Democrats. His stand will force a compromise to get Dem votes and INCREASE the expenses to taxpayers.

  4. Here's the problem... Republicans have a very slim majority in the House. If they lose 5 votes, any bill will not pass without Democrat support. Gaetz & Co, will not stop the bill from passing, but they WILL force compromise (Additional spending) to get Democrat votes to get the bill passed. McCarthy doesn't have the backbone to stand up and say "NO". He will cave in, compromise with the Dems and get the bill passed. The GOP does not have the cohesion Democrats do, never did. That's fine when they have a solid majority, like from 2017-2019. Doesn't work now. 5 of them can throw a wrench in any bill, and cause the Speaker to run to Democrats for the votes. Gaetz & Co. standing on their principals will cost MORE money, not less. The simple fact is that Gaetz and Co. folded their tent in January when they stood aside and let McCarthy become Speaker. The result was predictable.
