  1. The vast majority of defensive uses of firearms are never reported and never involve a shot being fired. Many people, have displayed a firearm for self defense, and the threat having been averted by the presence of a firearm, are AFRAID to report the incident for fear that THEY will be prosecuted. That said...the question is ridiculous. How many Americans each year are saved by their seat belts? We don't say "Don't wear a seat belt because only a relatively small number of lives are saved by them". Even less are saved by smoke detectors or fire extinguishers. Yet, the oppressors and hoplophobes will defend gun laws with the ridiculous statement "If it saves just ONE life..." If EVERY American carried a firearm and NO ONE ever had to use it for self defense, that would be a huge victory!
