  1. NO ONE will do anything about the chronic shortage of ATCs until the FAA imposes regulations limiting flights to that which the ATC staff can handle. These people are overworked, over stressed and do not want to even apply for these jobs for that reason. When flights are cut by 1/3 to 1/2 every day...then the funds will miraculously be available to pay attractive salaries and benefits and have reasonable (and SAFE) workloads for ATCs When the Washington accident occurred there should have been 30 ATCs on duty. There were 19. 1/3 of flights should have been cancelled. Period.
