  1. To this young officer...I am a retired police officer after 36 years in law enforcement. Thank you for doing what you do. I will tell you that no career will be more rewarding. You chose this career because something in you told you it was what you should do. I think you will not regret it. I hope you have a long career and can can retire one day and do a lot of the things you like to do. I like to go fishing. You will think about this day for a long time. It will be one of the days you remember. Bad things will happen. You won't remember the bad days, not too much, I hope. You will remember the people who DON'T hate police because of what you did. You will remember the people that are alive today because of what you did. Good luck to you, young man.
