Constitutional Carry, not "open carry permits". Open carry could also be part of it, but not necessarily. As a Florida resident and 2A supporter, I look for Constitutional Carry (no license needed) to pass, but I think we will see "open carry" about the same time we see oil drilling platforms off Clearwater Beach. I expect it will be no license needed to carry concealed

@victorfox7838 Who says? Each state has it's own rules, age limits and restrictions on "Constitutional Carry". One of the current "constitutional carry states" requires concealed carry only. (ND) North Dakota also allows ONLY ND residents to carry without a license. Maine allows permitless carry ONLY for residents, but recognizes other states' CC licenses. Constitutional Carry is generally regarded as "permitless" carry, though there may be specific restrictions on that. To imagine it currently means "anyone can carry anywhere anytime in any manner" is simply fantasy.

@victorfox7838 In fact...only ONE state has "Constitutional Carry". The very deep BLUE state of Vermont. Vermont has "constitutional carry" because there are NO LAWS prohibiting the carry of firearms for self defense. (the state prohibits carrying firearms with the "intent to do harm to others". Carrying for self defense has been specifically exempted as NOT to be "intent to do harm to others") Vermont never "passed" any law specifically allowing the carry of firearms because the state never prohibited it. Vermont never issued CC licenses because they didn't need to. In fact, ALL the other 24 states which have "permitless carry" ONLY allow it within limits by specific LEGISLATION passed by the legislature and signed by their governors. You have received permission from the government to carry a firearm without asking further permission from the Government. That has NOTHING to do with the US Constitution.

@victorfox7838 Who says permitless carry is for open AND concealed? I was responding to your comment. Well, every state has restrictions. Even Vermont has an age restriction of 18. So you have NO Constitutional carry anywhere. Feel better now? My guess is that if Florida gets permitless carry it will be for Concealed only. Just like ND. You won't like it. So what?

@victorfox7838 Then I don't read anything you write. Dismissed.

What's proposed is Constitutional Carry, NOT "open carry permits". As usual the media, even Newsmax, can't get anything right when reporting on 2A issues. The reporter had it right actually, the announcerette chick and title have it wrong.

@desertodavid I am a supporter of Constitutional Carry, because I think licensing is USELESS, not because I imagine it is unconstitutional. Any and all rights, liberty and even life itself, can be revoked after due process. (5th Amendment) . A background check verifies if the person HAS HAD their liberties revoked by due process. This is why the Supreme Court has allowed for licensing schemes in all their recent 2A rulings. (Heller, McDonald and Bruen) Some states, clearly, take it too far, as Bruen determined. But there is presently NO constitutional restriction against a license to carry provided it is objective. You don't have to like that, but that IS the case.

@Stormclowe It's clear you haven't read the applicable SCOTUS rulings. You can scream at the sky all you want. "Shall issue" licensing is NOT unconstitutional. I support and prefer Constitutional Carry, but that does not make it the only game allowed.
