AND...because things are out of stock. Our grocery bills would be even higher if the things we used to buy regularly were on the shelf. Empty shelves reduce our spending. People are deferring purchases because things are not in stock...things like appliances and building materials. Our neighbors planned to hire a painting company to paint their home...but only after they replaced their windows and patio doors. But the windows and doors are still on backorder, so no windows, no painting. Even if people have the $$$, they can't do things because they can't get materials!!!!
