Trump would not, and should not, choose DeSantis as a running mate. They are both conservative men from Florida. DeSantis brings nothing to the ticket for Trump. Kimberly Klacik or Candace Owens would knock it out of the park for a running mate. Kristi Noem would also be an excellent choice as VP. Other possibilities: Marjorie Taylor-Greene, Elise Stephanik. I see two ways to handle this: 1. Trump 2024 with DeSantis in some prominent position in his administration (NOT Vice President, DeSantis brings nothing to the ticket as VP...both men, both from Florida, etc.) Attorney General would be an excellent position for DeSantis. The purpose of this would be to give DeSantis and place to shine in preparation for 2028. Trump's VP pick could be Kristi Noem or Candace Owens (she will be old enough in 2024) or Kimberly Klacik 2. Trump decides not to run and endorses and rallies for DeSantis in 2024 1:54 The one thing you NEVER do is choose a candidate to appease your opponents. They will NOT be appeased.

Because putting two of the same thing together doesn't help you win. Trump as President, DeSantis as AG and pick Candace Owens or Kim Klacik as VP. THAT would bring in more than just conservatives. DeSantis can run as President in 2028 with a really strong resume.

@karenstepp669 Yes, but I mention her as an outside chance. She is another brash conservative, nothing wrong with that, but we have Trump for that. And MTG is from GA...also SE USA. I think Candace Owens would be the best choice...and DeSantis as AG. Owens is very conservative, and brash in a very clever passive/aggressive way, and a woman, and black. AND she has already offered herself for the job. Trump/Owens would have the Dems heads bursting in flames! Trump would pull 30%+ of the black vote and I doubt the Dems could even fake enough ballots to overcome that.

@karenstepp669 Trump has succeeded by doing everything no one thought he would ever do. He succeeded by not following the "rules". The GOP is supposed to be about stodgy old white men. Trump is not a stodgy old white man. (old and white, but not stodgy) Pence is. Trump needed a stodgy old white man in 2016. Now that Trump has proved himself, and has overwhelming support of the GOP, he needs to expand the base even more. DeSantis is not a stodgy old white man, but he a younger version of Trump. In fact, he'll tell a reporter to go pound sand even more directly than Trump. But we don't need two "Trumps" on the ticket to win. We need to go right into the opponents camp and TAKE their votes away and add them to ours. Trump has already got 93% of the GOP vote. He needs more of the Dem vote. He needs to reach the suburban women, the minorities...without surrendering conservative values. Kristi Noem, Candace Owens or Kim Klacik do just that. There are lots of videos on Candance Owens on YouTube, check her out. She is a huge supporter of Trump and has a great presence. IMO the best of the three for VP is Candace Owens. Kristi Noem and Kim Klacik (if Kim doesn't win a Congressional seat in the 2022 or 2024 election) should be in Trump's cabinet. DeSantis should be Attorney General. DeSantis can still be assigned the border issues...or maybe Kristi Noem as DHS Secretary, let her do it. She'd be great at it. Let DeSantis clean up the FBI, DOJ and BATFE. Klacik would be a great HUD Secretary.

@dianepante590 I Love DeSantis. He is my Governor and was my Congressman. I voted for him in every election he has run in. But the simple political fact is that the Presidential ticket needs balance and TWO guys from Florida that are pretty much alike does nothing to add balance ot the ticket. Sure, you like them both. What about other people? What about expanding the base? DeSantis does not draw in anyone different than Trump. Pence was chosen because he attracted the conventional GOP, he was from the midwest, he was religious...all things Trump is not. DeSantis would be far more useful in a Trump administration, not as VP but as Attorney General. Besides the VP job is traditionally a terrible place to become President from. Unless the President dies. Exactly TWO VPs have become President after being VP (unless the President died).
