  1. Possibly. But...that may be more coincidental than anything. The Kerch bridge was not open for rail traffic until July 30, 2020. Not enough time to build up forces for the invasion before Trump left office. The dual rail line across the Kerch Straight was, and is, absolutely essential for this war. Note that Russia withdrew from the right bank of the Dnipro just a couple months after the Kerch bridge was damaged and rail traffic reduced to a fraction of what it was. Putin had NO route to build up forces in the Crimean peninsula before that bridge was opened. Period. Now that the rail line has been damaged and traffic reduced, the Russian presence in Crimea can be very threatened. If Russia loses Crimea, there is no longer any point to the war. At all. There is nothing in the Donbas region that Russia couldn't have bought and brought by train to Russia. Sevastopol is a deep water, very secure, natural, ice free port with access to the rest of the world through the Dardanelles and Bosporus canals. They can't move that to Russia.
