I've been living in Japan almost 3 decades, and this video matches the history I've gotten from elderly Japanese people. Several people have thanked me/America for ending the war, because they said their leaders were set to win the world or lose every single Japanese trying.

I've had 2 completely different elderly Japanese men thank America for ending the war, because they said that their govt. back then would have kept fighting until they conquered the whole world or every last Japanese died.

@ElephantsInRooms There is a museum in Osaka Castle Park called "Peace Osaka". I remember going there in 95 or so, and seeing in the basement a whole display about the Nanking Massacre. When I told my Japanese acquaintances about it, most of them said it was made up by the Chinese to make Japan look bad, and others said it wasn't that bad. . One good Japanese friend in his 70s told me how his father went to Manchuria, came back alive, and told him that he had done terrible things to others that he couldn't believe himself that he'd ever do.
