  1. I'm old enough to remember when palm oil, along with coconut oil, was demonized as causing hardening of the arteries. Then people found out that many of those "studies" were sponsored by soybean oil producers, and that millions of people live just fine with coconut and palm oil. Glad to see Malaysia growing palm oil, but sad to see huge tracts of land going mono-culture.

After the Dutch came, many could make a good living from the oil, and the whole country could prosper. After the Dutch left, the local people could continue for a while, but since they don't plan and upgrade, their equipment stock slowly deteriorated, until it is in the condition it is today. . Think.
