That’s a pretty flawed assumption. We know that our cities are big and pretty sprawling. I think you assumed the average YouTube commenter was the average American.

Wrong takeaway from this vid ngl. It was designed to be tough for one party to be able to easily control the others.

Depends on how much you make. This is also disregarding some of the new financial help for the middle class and poor recently introduced.

Hello. 15 year old still growing up here! I just wanted to say I really could not disagree not. I feel 100% safe in my neighborhood and city. I think some of that being Austin is a much newer city and therefor has had modern issues in mind when passing bills and constructing infrastructure. I feel safe, and I would not wanna live anywhere else.

I’m growing up and I have plenty of freedom. Take your pills grandpa.

@valevisa8429 Adult focusing on kid's username. Wowza

Can’t imagine living anywhere else than Austin. Europe looks cool and all but I just can’t imagine what it’s like not having a big yard to enjoy with your pets.

This man when he saw that not everyone wanted to live in “perfect” Europe was like 😮. (Also side note you really can’t just move wherever you want in Europe if you wanna succeed somewhere you gotta know the language)

I think you’re more describing the hardliner conservative attitude. That’s unfortunately what a lot of them do. They refuse to think about some of their ideals and in turn have some pretty flawed ideas.

People say American exceptionalism is a problem

Then again, each state is nearly a country so….

I mean, I’m growing up, I don’t feel this. I can explore my neighborhood, it just takes a little longer. I can’t drive yet but I am fine.
1
@vergildisparda No? We can bike and walk.
1
Lol no

I’m just gonna focus on one of these for now, just to give a solid point. High speed rail, sure on paper it seems like a good idea, until you realize that states like Virginia are very rural. While it could work in the east the whole idea falls apart in the south and west (not to mention how massive the country is). The investment of billions for what is just barely faster than good old interstates is just not appealing. So much track laid and so many cities need to be covered. It’s inefficient, ineffective, and definitely NOT inexpensive. Sorry if I sounded like I was ranting I just hope that explains your confusion.

Then again most business areas are much more competitive in the us so that seems a bit cherry picked.
1
@NAUM1 Good point. There are a good few areas in Europe where you really have a lot more choice compared to the US. What I was saying is that in the grand scheme of things, the US has more competition in bigger sectors like banking, tech, automobiles, etc. I was never doubting that Europe did have more competition in some areas.

Hello! I’ve commented on a lot of posts like this but as a 15 year old myself I just want to say I feel safe in my city. It really isn’t an issue for me. I do not feel trapped in the slightest.

You posted this twice expecting it to pop off. Caught in 4k😬

@dannefan_senshi Honest mistake then, thanks for fixing it

Weirdly wholesome conversation in the replies

Weird flex but ok

@Bubajumba I'm literally growing up right now and I could not disagree more. Ask me to elaborate I will but if for once someone could take my word at face value and not "question everything" I would appreciate that.
1
@Bubajumba Internet culture for sure is full of insecure people who are stuck online. I'm glad that I've never been hooked on tiktok or any of those other brainrot sites. What some people might take as disrespect another might think is funny, and while I don't agree with all of the "edgy" 14 year old's making 9/11 jokes because they didn't think it was a big deal I do think that older generations need to figure out the difference between disrespect and a bad joke.

Ahhh yes America, my favorite continent.

I’m growing up over here in Austin, Texas. While it might just be the city or my good parents, I really don’t feel trapped. I can take walks and when I get my license I will be allowed to drive alone wherever. Sure places are further away and because Austin is hilly biking is not as viable, but I rarely feel “trapped”. That’s just my experience, I guess.
1
@moladiver6817 That is true. It would be nice to be able to bike into downtown and just go wherever whenever but Austin is really just too big. Sucks that the city was developed in a time where cars are very efficient to a point where you can't bike or walk much past your neighborhood. Although I will tell you about one place here that is designed very uniquely, it's called the domain. Basically a shopping district with apartments and restaurants. Biking there is very common and from what I've seen lots of the people living there don't even own cars.

Very true. My school uses every penny of its funding and while I wouldn’t consider it “underfunded” there definitely is less funding than Chicago that’s for sure
1
That would help how?
1
That’s another of the checks in our many checks and balances. The senate can play with stalling the process too in case it’s near the term of a president. Pretty confusing stuff but yeah.

Bicameral helps smaller states have a say rather than it being dominated by the big ones

This is true, but it’s important to remember that while there technically is no medical bills, it’s just lumped into general taxes. Can’t say which is better, but that’s an important detail I see left out in a lot of discussion regarding this stuff.
