  1. Know this, the names of parties and politicians do not matter in the least. We will travel a blinkered path as long as long as people who work for a living are outnumbered by those who vote for a living. “We the people” have to get out of this rut. The general perception is that corruption always involves money. Even if all political parties dishonestly take Rs. 10,000 crores per year from the exchequer, it will not make any significant difference in progress or development. What hurts most is that all political parties are ethically corrupt and they carry practice into matters of governance as well. The modus operandi is not important to the point being made here. Also there is not enough place here to discuss the kaleidoscopic overt and covert unethical practices of these parties. The politicians and the media by their utterances channelize our feelings and not our thoughts. This exploitation of feelings may sound the death knell of liberal democracy in India and all over the world. Democracies are but a puppet show where the people are controlled by emotional strings. Feelings are not cosmic powers. They surely do not reflect “free will”. Tailpiece: In the wake of the aforesaid, the role played by the media in democracies is also suspect.
