  1. Comparisons are inevitable. My take. Are we, including the stalwarts, of the media doing the people of India a Great disservice by undermining their intelligence by comparing a large, diverse, federal (more than half the federal states are traditionally governed by different political dispensations) Nation like India, to countries like Germany etc. where the population and geographical expanse is not even comparable with some large states in our great Nation. Academic comparisons are useless. Discuss India for India. India is unique in many ways even if for its large and diverse population and its undeniable rich (impoverished by colonization etc.) history and past economy. Tailpiece: Discuss India for what we are. Anybody can see India is unique. For God’s (there IS one, right?) sake, stop crying wolf.
