In 1967 EMS Nambudirippad of CPM came back to power in Kerala.I remember one catchy slogan of that time. “Annan tharatha congress eh unnampole parappikkum” it meant “we will blow away the congress which does not give rice (Annam) as if it were cotton (Unname). There was widespread rice shortage in India then. The effect of the slogan including rhythm can be felt only in Malayalam. It was the best political slogan I have ever heard…. Nothing better in the past more than 6 decades… Tailpiece: But at the end of the day, Shekhar, I feel the narrative has changed and it is only about delivery these days… not even religion…The media may like to change the narrative.
