  1. The real problem with democracy in India (also in all big democracies anywhere else in the world too) is, for good or bad, that elections are all about what we feel and not about what we think. The politicians and the media by their utterances channelize our feelings and not our thoughts. This reliance on feelings may be the undoing of liberal democracy in India and all over the world, which has even now degenerated into a puppet show controlled by emotional strings. The Governments, media and all other constitutional bodies are scared to tell the people to behave, especially in Pandemic times!!!! Feelings are not some divine qualities and they definitely do not reflect “free will”. I wonder where is democracy without thoughts. Tailpiece: Even today the emphasis is on showing sufferings (a pandemic will bring sufferings [disclaimer: Oh I too have feelings, but….] to defeat it we have to move on. Don’t be a puppet on a string. Address the real core issues and make people THINK instead of fanning their feelings.
