It is always a pleasure to hear an accomplished economist (who by nature are and should be pessimistic/cautious) give views on the economy. What sours RR’s comments are there is always a suspicion that they are coloured because of his proclaimed political leanings. We have already lost a great economist, MMS, to the vagaries of politics. I am afraid we may lose another one. Tailpiece: Economy is more important than politics. Economy feeds. Politics consumes . Just saying.

@Anomander5622 Hi! Politics is important in a democracy… But serious and balanced comments are expected from great people, not partisan quips. Now, regards per capita GDP. In India, for per capita gdp to reach $10000 the GDP has to increase to 15 trillion… approx etc,, Now two points. 1. Because there is scope for this expansion, India is better business opportunity where capital should come. For that ease of doing business should improve… Labour laws, land reforms etc… 2. Yet the living conditions is based on PPP. A loaf of bread in the US is $4.2 in India it is under $1. Can write volumes Enjoy
