@alexg6353 - I doubt most citizens could discern the news fed to them by the national broadcasting Centers, are lies or truth, they would just absord whatever news, as they donn't believe their Gov. would lie to them!
as you know these influential Medias/ propaganda machines belongs to the elites, they connive with the incumbent Gov for mutual symbiotic interests and profits,
hence commence lying to the public, we gravely require folks like Cyrus to expose the truth, to disclose their hypocrisies and conspiracy!
if you think Cyrus is a China shill, you have to give him the benefits of doubts, as he is defying countless Western medias, annoucing false/mudslinging news to the general publics!

@alexg6353 -hi, happen to come across this prologue on TEDx on Cyress, this preface is more convincing and lucid, than I could portray him, I shall clone it for your attention, quote "Cyrus Janssen is the “Unofficial Ambassador of the United States and China Relationship”. An American expat for over 14 years, Cyrus has a passion for building bridges between Western countries and China. In his TEDx talk, Cyrus looks to inspire the youth of today with an inspirational speech, discussing five of the biggest lessons he learned from his decade long journey of living in China. Cyrus Janssen is a keynote speaker, international business consultant, and social media influencer.",
all the best once again!

@CyrusJanssen ya, 任 in reality is more apt in this respect, I misconstrue as 认(to give way; give ground; yield; give up ....)as is worded in the srt, I assume it fits the context,
actually 任 is more appropriate, its implication is(responsibility, to let, to allow, to give free rein, no matter( how, what...)....
haha, one day I shall converse with you in Mandarin, as the idiom goes, " learning is an endless process."/ 学无止境........, let us encourage each other in our endeavours!
all the best!
