The whole point of a nuclear deterrent is that any potential enemy is far less likely to launch a nuclear attack if it believes that their intended target would retaliate with a nuclear attack of its own. That's why its called a deterrent. It becomes less of a deterrent if the enemy thinks you would most likely not retaliate. And ceases to be a deterrent at all once the fuckin idiot in charge says he would never use it under any circumstances. In short, the labour party might support trident. But as its leader has said he would not use it, it is utterly worthless! So we would be paying for trident. But getting no benefit for our money. I can see the worth of having a nuclear deterrent. And I can see the worth of not having a nuclear deterrent (we would save money). But you really have to hand it to Corbyn to somehow manage to get the worst of both worlds. Well done!
